Just because one thing is good*, doesn't mean it is true; just because one thing is true, doesn't mean it is good.


*The word "good" here means "moral", "virtuous", or any positive value regarding human survival.

    We shouldn't allow our morality to condition our acceptance of the realities of this world. My mind shrinks back in horror at the thoughts of child abuse, genocide etc but that does not mean I should deny they are real. In the same way, although I would like to see the good in everyone and trust blindly in them, I also realise that this is not always going to be the case.
