I like your aphorism a lot, yunyi. I like the distinction you make between possession and appreciation. I consider myself pretty high up on the scale of loving life, but I would never say I'm not afraid of death. I think death sucks. I just don't think about it very much. I think about living and being happy instead.
Thanks Marty for your honest. We all fear death in a way, I think. However, to be able to ignore death and enjoy everyday life is a brave approach and this attitude itself can only exist when one's love of life is greater than the fear of death.
I think I have as much fear of death as anybody, but I don't exert much energy on it. What I do fear is dying. How much pain is there, or will be, in the dying process.

DeleteLove this aphorism, Yun. It captures the essence of why living in the moment is the only way to live.

ReplyDeleteBradley, I guess the natural healthy death do not cause much pain.
DeleteThat was pithily said, Yun. Beauty of life surpasses all uglinesses, including death.
